Savory Sites Around the Web

JerryPournelle.jpg (3372 bytes)Jerry Pournelle
The Lord of Chaos Manor. Renowned science fiction author and "Byte" computer maven. He calls his site a daybook, some call it a blog. The best description is a lively discussion at a dinner party of smart folks. His daily mail exchanges span topics ranging from the latest warnings about computer virus attacks to how some insular European societies ended up over-clocking their brains. That picture is from Jerry's site.

James Lileks
The Lord of Jasperwood. Hey, is there a trend here? Mr. Lileks has the ability to skewer the krapulator generators with his Minnesota down-to-earthiness, at least when he's not going on about taking naps, watching TiVo, shopping at Target, enjoying the view from his palatial estate while smoking cigars, or recounting the wonderfulness of his daughter. You see, no one on Earth's every had as cute or as smart a  kid as his before. I snarfed the picture of him from his site.

TheBird.jpg (3628 bytes)Rara-Avis
A mystery discussion site – you can ignore that stuff – hosted by William Denton. Invaluable for getting bibliographical data about mystery writers. Don't worry about what a "rara avis" is, it's defined by context when you get there.

Spenserium.jpg (2976 bytes)Spercerium
Billed as the unofficial Robert B. Parker fan site. If this is unofficial, I'd had to see the depth of detail in the official site. It's got everything you've ever wanted to know about Parker, Spenser, and the rest of Parker's fictional crew along with sonnets written by Parker, for Dog's sake.
